How to spend your 2020 Study Break

If you’re like me and Study Break snuck up on you, here are some last-minute activities to make the most out of your week.

It may not be the Rockies, but you can still ski in Nova Scotia.

Things to do outdoors

Go for a nature walk in Point Pleasant Park, Victoria Park, or, really, any park

You can always count on Nova Scotia weather to have some winter days that almost feel like spring. If the weather is nice, why not head to a park and enjoy the fresh air? If you’re lucky, you’ll probably even spot some cute dogs and squirrels!

Go skating on the Oval and have a Beaver Tail

Have you really been to Halifax in the winter if you haven’t done this?

Go skiing at Martock or Wentworth

This activity requires a car, but it’s the best way to enjoy the snow!

Things to do Indoors

Flex your artistic muscles

Draw or paint a picture and then hang it on the wall to spruce up your room!

Have a crack at the book you’ve been meaning to read

Even Netflix can get old after hours of binge watching. This week is the perfect time to check some things off your to-read list.

Bake cookies

Your place will smell delicious with the added bonus of a yummy snack at the end.

Go out

Go to the Seaport Market on Saturday morning

Delicious local foods and cute homemade gifts–what more can you ask for?

Have a board game night with your friends

Do it at home or at one of the local board game cafés any night of the week.

Go see a game

Show your Dal spirit and cheer on the Dal Tigers basketball and volleyball teams on Feb. 15, and basketball again on Feb. 16 at Dalplex. Downtown at the Scotiabank Centre, the Halifax Mooseheads are playing Feb. 20, 22, and 23, and the new Halifax Thunderbirds lacrosse team play on Feb. 15 and 21.

Get work done

Plan the rest of your semester

You’re halfway done! Take some time during the break to prepare yourself for what’s to come and make sure no assignments or finals sneak up on you.

Catch up on your class readings

It’ll hurt less now than when you have a bunch of other work piled up.
