CONTENT CREATOR, HALIFAX CAMPUSES
Summer 2025
The Content Creator will assist in building and maintaining student life content for the Dalhousie University Student Affairs Communications team. The Content Creator will research, present, and implement new methods of engaging students online and will be involved in creating content that fosters school spirit and inclusivity.
- Time frame: 12 weeks, May–August 2025 (start date flexible)
- Location: Dalhousie University, Halifax (in-person)
- Hours: 35 hours/week
- Pay: $21.50/hour
Responsibilities:
Propose and create engaging content for Dal Student Life social media channels to help build awareness of Dalhousie supports, resources, facilities, student opportunities, and events. This will include creating video content, identifying opportunities for engaging with the student audience online, planning digital content or programming through a content management system, and occasional on camera performance.
Propose and create content for the DalU mobile app/web portal to engage with student audiences and build usership. This includes engaging with the incoming first-year student cohort.
Propose and create written content for the Dal Student Life Blog, online orientation courses for first-year students, and content for the Dal.ca website.
Assist all Student Affairs units with social media marketing techniques to increase visibility and promotion of services, as well as training other student employees on social media tools and techniques.
Monitor activity on digital channels and reply to comments as needed on social media.
Meet regularly with Student Affairs teams and other student summer teams to coordinate work and planning.
Some travel to the Agricultural Campus in Truro, Nova Scotia will be required. The Content Creator will not be responsible for having their own transportation, it will be arranged by Dalhousie staff.
Other duties as required.
Qualifications/competencies:
Current Dalhousie University student in good academic standing, with experience on the Studley, Carleton, or Sexton campus
Demonstrated confidence and ability to create, deliver and manage effective content on digital platforms and social media.
Experience with filming and editing video content for social media.
Demonstrated written communication skills for blog writing and editing.
Initiative to work with autonomy and minimal supervision.
Strong communication skills, including written and verbal.
Approaches new challenges with creativity and enthusiasm.
